Races

Races are my inspiration to train. Looking forward to them is what gets me out the door in the morning when I don't want to go.

Today I'm sitting at home watching online results for the WDW Half Marathon (and marathon tomorrow) and Holly in the Mississippi Blues half.

SEVEN weeks to go to the Princess Half Marathon for me, which I'm trying to focus on for my personal motivation for weight loss and training. Still not a lot of hard running for me while I'm rehabbing my foot from a case of tendonitis, but I'm coming back gradually using walk:run intervals. I'm only up to 6 bouts of 2 minutes running and 3 minutes walking (for a total of 30 min), but it's moving in the right direction.

Big surprise of the week is taking off what must have been a huge amount of bloating from sitting in the RV while on vacation over Christmas. 6.8 pounds off in five days? That's crazy, I think it's an all-time record for me. It won't continue at that rate, but it's lovely while it lasts!

Still I'm 20 pounds over where I was two years ago at the Beach to Battleship triathlon. What will get me back to being an actual athlete instead of wishing I was?

FOCUS.

COMMITMENT.

DISCIPLINE.
